Arts Education Connection San Diego (AECSD) was founded in 1963 as a nonprofit corporation in the State of California and has since become a statewide leader in delivering exceptional arts-in-education programs. AECSD partners with highly skilled professional musicians, dancers, actors, visual artists, writers, and storytellers who excel not only in their disciplines but also in educational communication and standards-based instruction.
Our mission is rooted in the belief that every act of art counts . As a bridge between the arts and education, AECSD demonstrates the powerful ripple effect that creative expression can have on students, classrooms, and communities. We believe in the dreams that art inspires and sustains—for students, teachers, administrators, and our own community of talented teaching artists. Our commitment is to ensure that the arts remain central to educational conversations and accessible in every classroom.
We affirm that the arts are essential, learning is critical, and integrating the arts into learning is transformative.
As a voting member of the corporation, each director of Arts Education Connection San Diego carries the full authority and responsibility to act in accordance with California nonprofit corporation law, upholding the fiduciary duties of care, loyalty, and obedience in service to our mission.
