Interim Director of Oncology- North Dakota

American Consultants is looking for an Interim Director of Oncology for a facility in North Dakota.

The Director of Oncology – Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for the strategic, operational, and clinical leadership of the oncology nursing department. This individual oversees the delivery of safe, high-quality cancer care services, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and promoting evidence-based practices. The Director collaborates with physicians, advanced practice providers, administrative staff, and interdisciplinary teams to provide compassionate and effective care to oncology patients across the care continuum.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide strategic leadership and direction for all oncology nursing operations, including inpatient, outpatient, chemotherapy infusion, radiation therapy, and palliative care services.

Oversee staffing, training, performance evaluations, and professional development for the oncology nursing team.

Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, as well as accreditation standards (e.g., Joint Commission, ONS, Commission on Cancer).

Develop and implement policies, procedures, and quality improvement initiatives that enhance patient outcomes and operational efficiency.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to promote integrated, patient-centered oncology care.

Manage departmental budgets, monitor expenditures, and identify opportunities for cost savings and revenue generation.

Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to oncology nurses, promoting best practices in chemotherapy administration, symptom management, and supportive care.

Lead initiatives to improve patient experience, patient safety, and employee engagement.

Participate in cancer program development, including research initiatives, community outreach, and survivorship programs.

Maintain current knowledge of oncology nursing trends, technologies, and therapies.

Qualifications:

Required:

Registered Nurse (RN) license in [state]

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

Minimum of 7 years of clinical nursing experience, with at least 3 years in oncology nursing

3+ years in a leadership or management role

Preferred:

Master’s Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field (MSN, MHA, MBA)

Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN), Advanced Oncology Certified Nurse (AOCN), or similar credential

Experience in Magnet®-designated hospitals or academic medical centers
